On Sunday, we invited the kids out for a dinner to celebrate J's birthday. Barb and the girls arrived on the heels of Collette and the boys. Sean and Matt drove separately. I'd made Beef Parmigiana the day before and it was heating up, along with oven fries and corn from the freezer. The table was set in the sunroom. Everyone but me (I already knew!) was surprised and thrilled when Kelley and Sofia walked in the door! They will be here several days. What a treat! Johnny was thrilled at Sofia's first visit to the farm. After dinner J and Sean and Matt went to the Wilson Place to help J with a few things, while the girls did the dishes. It was a very nice day!
In the evening, J and I went to a presentation by Frank Runyeon, an actor, at Holy Trinity, a dramatization of Matthew retelling the Beatitudes to a congregation in Antioch. It was a fantastic performance, and we really enjoyed it. I wish all kids could hear him! He talked later about the conflict between these beatitudes and what the media currently tells us.
The weather this past week has been just wonderful. If it would be like this all the time! J has started combining beans at the boxcar place. It's slow going, though, because the stems are so tough. They need to dry out more.
